ENHANCE WELLBORE INTEGRITY

Casing expansion gives operators the ability to change the physical characteristics of the annulus of the casing without perforating. This maintains casing integrity, allowing operators to use the casing to compress cement for re-sealing, or create barriers in the annulus for remedial sealing operations.

RESTORE CASING CIRCULARITY

Deformed casing can severally restrict the full utilization of the wellbore below the deformation for production and other downhole operations. Conventional mechanical swage methods to return casing to drift ID become less effective with wellbore angle, and impossible in horizontal wells. Casing expansion can solve this problem.

HIGH-PERFORMANCE SEALING

Casing expansion can be used to create “steel-on-steel” seals and enhance the performance of liner tops, liner hangers, and casing patches. Enhanced sealing using control internal tubular expansion can be particularly effective in thermal applications where traditional seals fail or have a short service life.

OPTIMIZE CEMENTING

Casing expansion can enhance the effectiveness of annular remedial cementing by creating new barriers to control sealing fluid placement and flow. Casing expansion has similar properties in the annulus to an external casing packer, except it can be performed at any time and any depth.

Revolutionizing Wellbore Integrity Solutions

Since 2016, Radial Casing Solutions Radial has been developing a revolutionary and patented casing expansion tool we call  REEDRadial Elastomer Expansion Device. By expanding the casing under forces controlled from surface, REED uses the casing itself to resolve wellbore integrity issues in the casing annulus without compromising casing integrity

For the first time, operators can materially reduce the cross-sectional area and change the behavior and characteristics of the casing annulus without perforating and injecting sealants. This retains casing integrity while resolving complex wellbore integrity issues such as Surface Casing Vent Flows (SCVF) or interzonal communication of liquids or gases.

For vent flows, Radial’s REED can be considered a “mechanical cement squeeze” whereby the annular cement is compressed and reformed, thereby sealing micro-annular leaks and “worm holes” at a fraction of the cost of conventional methods.

Radial’s REED has sufficient power to expand most common sizes, grades and weights of casing, and an easily be adapted or specially order for the most challenging assignments.

Since 2020, dozens of jobs and hundreds of expansions have been conducted without a tool failure or failing to retrieve the REED from the well post-expansion.

What Our Clients Say

“ Cost Effective ”

"the costs for remediating these vent flow leaks can be somewhere between 2 to 10 times more expensive than your conventional, traditional plug in abandonment operation. For these reasons, companies like Radial Casing Solutions are revolutionizing the way that these small but costly methane leaks get remediated. "
