In situations where wells require annular sealing well above the cement top from primary cementing, Radial’s REED offers a patented solution. Casing can be expanded below the area of interest, thus ensuring injected cement remains where it is required. In this application, the REED can be considered an external casing packer installed after the well is drilled and on production.
In cases where cement or sealing injection required above the current cement top in the annulus of the production casing, REED provides a means to ensure injected remedial sealant injection starts and remains where it required. Reducing the cross-sectional area of the annulus below the perforations encourages cement or other sealing agents to go around and up, not down, and stay there during setup.
As confirmed by many post-expansion multi-finger caliper logs, field testing has proven that REED can deliver four quality expansions per element per run. Using the three-element configuration, this results in twelve or more expansion in one strip in the well. No other casing expansion process or technology can offer this degree of annular remediation in a single trip in the well.
